Hey guys.

Im forming a Electronica influenced band.

Influences are Cooper Temple Clasue, Muse, Early Prog rock (King Crimson, Genesis etc)

Effects users are encouraged and Instrument swapping between bassist guitarist is Mandatory. I play both bass and guitar I will probably be also doing vocals. I have top notch equipment and i am looking to practice all day saturdays.

So i am looking for:

A Fellow Guitarist/Bassist who will swap between instruments.
A Synth player
A Noise Effect tinkerer (Can also play keys would be great)
A Drummer (Double Kick players preferably but not neccesary)

Profiencey and weird time signatures will be used. But also Raw power.

Anyone up for it?

shit bassist looking for shit drummer, shit guitarist & Shit Hammond organist (ok, well, it can be a keyboard as long as it has a hammond sound) to make some noisy garagy-organy type fun. nothing too groundbreaking and will probably be Origional stuff with a few cheeky covers thrown in. im thinking of a surfy-garagy-R&Bish kind of sound (fast though, fast garage, not mid tempo garaindy nonsence). it would probably benifit greatly from a singer and all whilst i think of it. obviousley if i get 6 applicants for guitarst, i'll put you all in a pit and let you fight till only 2 are left.

i like long walks on the beach, socialising, cocktail hour's, the music of the dutch dancehall organ, smoking a cigarette after a meal and a nice comfey pair of slacks. i'd hope yopu were fond of them to. (apart from teh smoking thing, its a filthy habbit)

i'm an equal oppertunity's employer so the post is open to men & woman of poor to great musical skill although a prior knowledge of the instrument would be nice (apologies to anyone who's planning on buying a drumkit so they can join the band) and to be dead honest this wont be my primary band so i'd prefer it if it wasnt your either, however i am avalable to practise most evenings after 6:30 (depending on location) and all day sundays and mondays.

(tyou dont have to be able to spell either)

Long shot maybe, since everybody here is pretty well banded up, but...

Does anyone want a guitarist with a slightly idiosyncratic playing manner for their band?
Most of you know I play in Hunting Lodge, but I wouldn't mind playing something a little less noisy, and less distorted. Maybe even acoustic guitar; I spend more time playing acoustic than electric anyway.

Nothing too straight-down-the-line though.

I'm playing two shows in quick succession at the end of May, one supporting Max Tundra (for which I'm definitely doing a minidisc set), one as part of the Flaw Set. I'm wary of trotting out the same backing tracks repeatedly, so having you interpret the material instead would be an interesting solution.

I know it's not really a band, and it might be a bit more restrictive than you'd like, but I reckon your playing style works well within my oeuvre. I know of no bands, but I fancy doing another one. I wanna do something a bit less straight down the line than the Veltones but not as Noisy as the Lodge.
I can play Bass or guitar or keyboard ( or drums a bit, but I don't have any ). Would prefer Bass.
Howabout merging what we want to do ? Acoustic guitar and fuzzy dirty bass.

sounds like we have compatible needs :)

I'd been thinking of trying something with a slight country-ish tinge, so maybe that'd work. Sounds fun anyway.

What do you think of fairly clean electric instead of acoustic? More flexible if you're going to use fuzz I think, I can still play finger-picked stuff on it, but go for a bit of grunt where neccessary
Any idea of anyone else (a drummer, I guess) would be interested?

Yes, I am liking this Idea.

I know of no drummers though, I know 3 basically. One is in 3 bands already and the other two live miles away and can't ever be arsed to come into Bristol. Having said that, I will ask them both just to be sure. Maybe stick up a proper post ? Cos no-one ever looks up here.

I'd like to do something with odd time signatures, don't ask me what exactly, I just fancy doing something a bit weird sounding.
Have you heard Whirlwind Heat ? I have them in my mind all of a sudden ( for Bass Ideas I mean )

What about vocals ?

Two of us folks that put on Pull the Strings nights are looking for some windy horn to go with our music project. Its just drums and guitar at moment doing semi-imrov upbeat jazzy rock. Like a fast June of 44 with pop in there I suppose.

If you think it sounds like your thing and you can blow stuff (doesn't have to be trumpet, but it does need to make a sound when you blow it) then we can send you an MP3.

Who's up for playing in a grindcore band? Along the lines of Terrorizer, Repulsion, Napalm Death, etc, with the odd excursion into heavy metal territory :evil:

No clever stuff involved, mostly loads of power chords. I'm playing drums, so I'm looking for a guitarist, bassist and singer. i have some demos recorded with drums, bass, guitar, a few full songs and lots of other ideas, if you want to hear how it sounds.

If you play something and fancy meeting up just to do some improvised stuff let me know, because i'm a little bored with playing on my own, and could do with playing with others to get my playing standard up a bit. I’m a singer songwriter in need of a backing band for local and national gigs and also summer festivals around the country. I primarily need a bassist and drummer, but I’m open to jamming with any musicians and seeing what happens: percussionists, cellos, double bass, harmonica, dude with a laptop... whatever!

My music has been compared to Jack Johnson, John Butler Trio, Gomez... but to be honest it's not really like any of them. You need to have a listen to a few different tracks to get a feel for it, cos there's acoustic, reggae, hip-hop, jazz, drum and bass MCing, blues...

An Axe are looking for a violinist to help bring our compositions to life.
We're a ramshackle affair combining 50's guitar and percussive acoustic to create spaghetti western soundtracks.

We need scrapey, creaky strings to add colour and texture.
We have a few songs written and are working on an EP to be released on local label Decorum Records, home to The Wailingest Cats.

Influences are Silver Mt Zion, Low, Godspeed, Joanna Newsom, Set Fire To Flames.

I want to form a psychedelic band. Like Electric Prunes/Spirit/Love all of that sort of nonsense but with a bit of a harder, more trippy edge, a few breaks and loops chucked in for good measure.
I want a guitarist. Possibly a bass player though I tend not to like bass players. Organ possibly.
I will sing and play the Sitar through all sorts of effects pedals and drones and a bit of tabla. I have an Esraj player, a cellist and a proper drummer sorted as well as recording studio, practice studio, friends-who-are-in-the-biz.
Im nicer than people will have you believe, and being in a band with me generally means you have access to a decadent lifestyle beyond your wildest dreams. haha.
I dont want anyone younger than 18.
Must not hate paisleys.

In a tragic f*ck-up of soap-opera proportions, we've lost the baritone from our barbershop quartet. We've put so much work into getting this project off the ground .. there has to be a guardian angel out there who can help us keep everyone's second favourite singing style alive?

Probably not what you're after, but I'd like to play guitar in more straightforward (relatively) circumstances, and can provide electronics and Saw as well.
Not woodwind or strings though.

It won't help my case to say that I play guitar in Hunting Lodge. I can play more subtly though, and actually prefer playing that way at the mo'.

We've been playing and loving in and around Bristol for 2 years, with support slots at the Academy and with many a highly rated touring act (Cheeky Cheeky and the Nose bleeds, Official Secrets Act, The Vivian Girls, The Dodos and The Complete Stone Roses to name a few) ranking as among our highlights.

We're looking for a commited, young (18-24 ideally) violin player who ideally could practice twice a week on top of any gigs. Skills wise - listen to "open road" on our myspace (myspace.com/farthingwood) for an idea of what we're after.

Our influences are broad and wide but most notably we all share a love of Bruce Springsteen!

to take part in a one-off spontaneous improvisational experimental performance sponsored by the Bath Music Festival.
string, brass, wind, voice are preferred, but also guitar (acoustic/electric), keyboard, bass, drums, synth, electronics, laptops, thumb pianos, toys, balalikas, clapping, you name it.
performers can be of any level and age: the more the merrier. BRING YOUR MATES. and kids.
the performance will be guided by a conductor/director: just follow his instructions. no experience necessary.
BRING YOUR INSTRUMENTS. you must have your own equipment, although a PA and some amps are available.
there are buses every 10 minutes to Larkhall (somerfield or larkhall square) from Bath Bus station, and regular trains or buses to Bath from Bristol.
some lifts will be available from Bath train station from 9.45am, and Bristol (gloucester road) around 9ish.
