LIPSTICK ON YOUR COLLAR in association with LADYFEST BRISTOL presents
THE MENTALISTS
“The sort of tunes the Raincoats and Slits would have been proud of” -ARTROCKER MAGAZINEThe Mentalists are four girls who make ultra catchy tunes to make you dance in a Slits-meets-Long Blondes style. Their debut performance in 2005 saw them supporting Belle & Sebastian and Babyshambles. Not bad for a first gig! Their music takes in stabs of Siouxsie & The Banshees, X-Ray Spex, the Slits with a pinch of Blondie and the Breeders. Debut single ‘Don’t Know What To Do With You’ (produced by Gavin Monaghan, producer for Editors/Rakes/Kings of Leon) available now on iTunes.

"Like the ghost of Bikini Kill resurrected and given a good kicking” -Everett True, PLAN B MAGAZINE
“Their lo-fi riot-grrl-flavoured wonk-punk is pretty much irresistible in the X-Ray Spex/Bratmobile mode. Enough to make you want to run away and follow them around on tour forever!” –NMEBrighton-based collective Manic Cough are no strangers to Ladyfest, having previously played at Ladyfest Leeds, Cardiff and Brighton over the past couple of years. Fronted by the ever-energetic Annie with Indie legend Delia on bass (writer for Artrocker magazine and member of numerous bands including riot grrrl pioneers Mambo Taxi). After just one single they’ve picked up airplay on Radio 1 and Marc “Lard” Riley personally invited them to play a session on his BBC 6music show. Always an entertaining live experience, with outlandish costumes, Bratmobile-style thrusts and songs about hips, lips, eggs, chips and Weetabix!

“With C86 indie-pop swaying guitar riffs, falling somewhere between cutie-era Primal Scream and 1960s compilations of lost girl-group gems” – ARTROCKER MAGAZINE
“1960's girl pop group but with a touch of grunge and punk, plenty of ambition and sense of adventure” – BRISTOL EVENING POST
“Bangly Go-Go all girl pop of a rather beautiful bent” – VENUE MAGAZINEBristol girl band Colliding Lemons formed at school and would often practice on a school night instead of getting their homework done. Rock ‘n’ roll! The band take their influences from Blondie, Pixies, Donnas combined with the sweet sounds of Shangri-Las and various 60’s girl groups. You may also hear echoes of Bristol's musical history via Sarah Records during their more jangly guitar pop moments, and a definate nod to K Records’ All Girl Summer Fun Band.
